"ツイッターの公式ログインページを開くと、真ん中あたりに最近の「人気ツイート」がだーっと表示されていく。そのなかにあった茂木健一郎氏のツイートにちょっと引いてしまった。曰く「これからの日本に必要なのは、土佐を脱藩して独立した自由人として幕末の日本で人と人を結び、維新への流れをつくった坂本龍馬のような思想、行動ができる人である。」（9/5） あまりにありきたりすぎる。現在の日本の閉塞感と、古びたシステムからの脱却を象徴する人物として愛され続けた坂本龍馬を組み合わせたら、誰だって思いつきそうな言葉だ。それをさもオリジナルの格言のように「である。」って締める。近所のおばちゃんがある日突然「私の経験によると、サラダの味を豊かにするのは、濃厚な味わいとお手軽さを兼ね揃えた、マヨネーズのような調味料である。」と町内会なんかで言っちゃうのと同じレベル。かつ、茂木氏くらいの著名人だと、流したつもりで薄っぺらい内容を書いても、賛同者にたくさんリツイートされて「社長、ナイスショット！」的な雰囲気に包まれてしまう。ツイッターは有意義な道具だと思うんだけど、そういう取り巻きの濃密な臭いが気になるから、著名人をフォローするのは躊躇してしまう。"
